ACTIV APP ANNOUNCED AS OFFICIAL INDUSTRY PARTNER SUPPORTING EPSRC AND RESEARCH IRELAND €2M PROJECT FUNDING WITH UNIVERSITY OF LIMERICK AND UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON

Activ App has been formally designated an Industry Partnership organisation for collaborative research with the University of Limerick (UL) and the University of Southampton (UoS). This recognition strengthens joint efforts to secure major national and international research funding, including applications to the EPSRC and Research Ireland. The partnership reflects Activ’s growing role in academic and clinical research, with its digital platform already supporting studies in metabolic health, behaviour change, and long‑term disease risk prediction. By offering a real‑world environment driven by live data, Activ helps research teams turn innovation into real‑world outcomes. “We’re honoured to collaborate with leading researchers who are advancing prevention, early detection, and digital health innovation,” said Niall Jordan, CEO of Activ App. “Our platform helps bridge the gap between research and practical solutions for communities, healthcare providers, and employers.”

Strengthening Research Excellence Across Ireland and the UK
As part of the partnership:

  • University of Limerick is collaborating with Activ on the development of a long‑term diabetes prediction and early‑risk identification module, integrating behavioural, lifestyle, and metabolic data to support earlier intervention strategies.
  • University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust are piloting Activ within academic and clinical settings to evaluate usability, patient engagement, and the potential for integration into NHS digital‑health pathways.

These collaborations align with the strategic priorities of EPSRC and Research Ireland, including digital health innovation, AI‑enabled prediction models, population wellbeing, and translational research with demonstrable public benefit.

A Platform Built for Research, Impact, and Scale
Activ App provides a secure, research‑grade infrastructure for:

  • Longitudinal lifestyle and behaviour‑change data
  • Wearable device integration
  • Real‑world intervention testing
  • Community‑based health engagement
  • Scalable deployment across diverse populations

This infrastructure enables universities to design, test, and validate new models of prevention and chronic‑disease management in real‑world environments.
