County Wexford Chamber Launches Strategic Plan 2026–2028: A Bold Vision for Growth and Community

 

The future of business and community development in County Wexford took centre stage on December 3 as County Wexford Chamber unveiled its Strategic Plan 2026–2028. This landmark event brought together influential voices shaping the region’s growth, including Wexford County Council CEO Eddie Taaffe, Chamber President Ed Murphy, and Chamber CEO Paula Roche. 

Housing and Infrastructure: A Top Priority 

Wexford County Council CEO Eddie Taaffe underscored the Council’s commitment to tackling one of Wexford’s most pressing challenges: housing. Social, affordable, and private housing, along with supporting infrastructure, remain at the forefront of the Council’s agenda. 

He also highlighted the importance of quality-of-life infrastructure, such as public realm improvements, tourism development, and enhanced public amenities. Flagship projects like Trinity Wharf, the New Ross Greenway, and the planned Rosslare Harbour Greenway demonstrate the county’s ambition to create vibrant, connected communities. 

Chamber Priorities for Business Growth 

Turning to the business community, Chamber President Ed Murphy outlined priorities for the coming years: 

  • Strengthening entrepreneurship 

  • Championing innovation and digital transformation 

  • Driving collaboration between stakeholders

He emphasised the Chamber’s role in promoting Wexford as a destination for talent and investment, while celebrating the county’s entrepreneurial success stories. 

Five Core Objectives of the Strategic Plan 

Chamber CEO Paula Roche presented the five pillars of the new plan: 

  • Grow a Connected and Thriving Business Community 
    Build stronger networks, deliver high-value supports, and foster collaboration through events and partnerships. 

  • Advance Business and Regional Development 
    Position Wexford as a hub for enterprise and innovation, attract investment, and champion flagship projects like Offshore Renewable Energy. 

  • Champion Pro-Business Growth Policy 
    Advocate for policies and infrastructure that enable competitiveness, support SMEs, and secure critical investment in housing, transport, and energy. 

  • Drive Education and Training 
    Expand training initiatives, strengthen links with SETU, and promote lifelong learning to future-proof the workforce. 

  • Strengthen Regional Identity, Connectivity and Quality of Life 
    Enhance transport and digital infrastructure, promote Wexford’s tourism and cultural assets, and support initiatives that improve liveability and wellbeing.
