Flahavan’s – One of Ireland’s Oldest Family Owned Businesses

Flahavan’s is one of Ireland’s oldest family owned businesses and most awarded Green organisations, milling oats for 7 generations at the family mill in Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford for over 200 years.

Having won multiple awards including The Sustainable Energy Achievement Award 2017, Green Food & Beverage Award 2017 and Green Medium Sized Organisation of the Year 2017, Flahavan’s were one of the first companies to join the Bord Bia Origin Green initiative….A fascinating story of generating their own electricity requirements, supporting an environmentally-friendly manufacturing process and using local farmers to source oats.

Flahavan’s story is testament to setting out and achieving measurable sustainability targets – reducing environmental impact, serving local communities more effectively and protecting the extraordinarily rich natural resources.

Today, Flahavan’s Progress Oatlets, organic and Quick oats are the leading porridge oat brands in Ireland.  The Irish Hot Oats Category is worth €20.3 million at retail level and Flahavan’s have over 65% share of this category.
