THINK Wexford Chamber Shop Local vouchers

‘Tis the season for giving and Wexford Chamber have a favour to ask all of you in the approach to Christmas…..please stop before you click that all convenient button to finalise your online purchase and consider for a moment that the small local traders among us need our support more than ever. Take a walk around Wexford this Christmas and you will find everything you could want from an excellent High Street shopping experience.

Every € we spend locally has a multiplier effect in our community that benefits us and the local economy.  We need to support and value our local shops and businesses as much as possible. While the temptation to travel further afield for perceived savings may be at the fore front of many people’s minds, Wexford Chamber believe that these so-called savings are not beneficial for our town where we all live and work.”

In a bid to keep money earned in Wexford staying in our town, Wexford Chamber in association with Wexford People introduced the Wexford Chamber Shop Local Voucher in July 2013 and produced beautifully designed local currency vouchers in denominations of €10, €25 and €50.  Wexford Chamber ‘Shop Local Vouchers’ can be spent in any shop displaying the ‘Wexford Chamber Shop Local Vouchers Accepted Here’ sign. With over 100 shops and businesses participating there is a wide choice of purchases and services ranging from clothing, jewelry, beauty, hospitality, car and household fuel and much more. They are the perfect Christmas present for family and friends, while allowing them the freedom to choose where and what they buy.  A full list of participating businesses can be viewed at www.wexfordchamber.ie

Last year almost €100,000 in Wexford Chamber Shop Local Vouchers were sold in Wexford and remember that this is money that is guaranteed to be spent in Wexford and will support local businesses and jobs.  Since the vouchers were launched over €350,000 of voucher have been sold to local people – to give as gifts and to companies giving their staff a once off bonus.  So if you consider buying vouchers as a gift please call Catherine at Wexford Chamber on 053-91 22226 or email accounts@wexfordchamber.ie     alternatively you can purchase the vouchers online at Wexford Chambers’ online shop.

Read what some of our customers had this to say about the Wexford Chamber Shop Local Vouchers:

Noel Doyle, Richard Doyle & Son Butchers said “The Shop Local Vouchers are an excellent gift idea for all seasons.  Up to 80% of every euro spent in locally owned stores goes directly back into the local economy which is a huge boost to local employment and local food producers.  They say the euro was made round to go round.  Please shop local this Christmas.  Thanking you in advance”

Christine from The Natural Health Store had this comment: “Every year at this time, we see images on line promoting “Shop Local”.  We are delighted to support the Wexford Chamber “Shop Local” Vouchers and accept them in store.  It’s a great initiative to encourage local people to shop local and support our local economy.  Shopping local is so important, especially for a family run business like ours.

From Hores Stores, Gerard Hore stated “Hores Stores ae delighted to accept and promote the Wexford Chamber Vouchers and to encourage people to keep shopping local and to create jobs and highlight the wonderful shopping town that Wexford is.  Shop local this Christmas!”
