A Dynamic Operation at Meadows & Byrne and Kelly’s Café

meadows and byrneKelly’s Café and Meadows & Byrne welcomed the local business community with open arms last Thursday evening, 15th May, when over 50 businesses attended a Wexford Chamber Business After Hours networking event.

It was clear to see why the chic self-service style café and Meadows & Byrne store at Drinagh Business Park is a new haven for locals and visitors since it opened its doors in October 2013, attracting up to 700 customers daily between them.

Guests enjoyed tasting the delights of Kelly’s Café before browsing around the smart stylish collections of fashion and home ware on offer in Meadows & Byrne.  The event provided guests with an excellent networking opportunity to raise the profile of their business offering, widen their network of contacts and facilitate new business referrals.

Opening the event, Martin Doyle, President of Wexford Chamber said, “The names Kelly and Meadows & Byrne are synonymous with quality and service and with both businesses combined in this new venture, they bring a whole new dimension to retailing in Wexford.  The obvious investment made here by both businesses demonstrates a strong confidence in and a strong commitment to Wexford as a both a shopping destination and a place to do business and for that I would like to thank all concerned.”

Providing insight into the vision that resulted in this new business venture, Managing Director of Kelly’s Resort Hotel & Spa in Rosslare, Bill Kelly told attendees, “I was annoyed to see so many people come into Rosslare Europort and just disappear out of Wexford.  That was my main motivation and I think that the opening of the new ‘Avoca-style’ restaurant and Meadows and Byrne store is benefiting the whole area, drawing in customers from nearby Counties, capturing passing trade and serving local people as well.”  Bill puts the continued success of his business down to looking after its best asset, the customer.

Bill Kelly went on to proudly share with guests how the first quarter of 2014 has seen the fifth generation of the Kelly family, Laura Kelly, return to take the helm beside her father Bill, and grandmother Breda Kelly. The eldest daughter of Bill and Isabelle Kelly, Laura joined the management and staff of Kelly’s Resort Hotel earlier this year.  Laura has gained vast experience both in the business and tourism sectors through her studies in UCD and later in the Hotel Management School of Switzerland.

Attendees at the event where entered into a prize draw which saw Fiona McGuire of Join the Dots Online Marketing win a voucher for dinner for two, kindly sponsored by Kelly’s Resort Hotel & Spa.
