Bluebird Care (Wexford) has been awarded the EcoMerit Environmental Certification in recognition of their commitment to ongoing environmental improvement.

Bluebird Care (Wexford) provides care and support in the home and community to people of all ages and abilities and has the distinction of being the first home care company in Ireland to achieve this award.

The award recognises that the company has successfully put in place a programme of energy, waste and water efficiencies to reduce their environmental footprint.

On receiving the EcoMerit Certification, Michael Corcoran, Managing Director said “We are delighted to receive EcoMerit Certification and are looking forward to using the programme to help us meet our environmental sustainability goals. We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and this certification process enables us to focus on improvements and to measure the outcomes.”

On awarding the certificate, EcoMerit managing director Phil Walker said “Now more than ever, Ireland needs its businesses to rise to the challenge of climate change.  Bluebird Care (Wexford) joins an Ireland-wide EcoMerit community who are doing just that – with practical measures which make a real, measurable difference.”

Bluebird Care (Wexford) has also invested in carbon offsets by supporting the Hometree charity in Co. Clare. Hometree plants native Irish trees. These trees, which will be planted on Moy Hill farm in Co. Clare, will over the course off their life offset the carbon that Bluebird Care (Wexford) uses in the course of it’s business. This is a significant development in Bluebird Care’s ambition to become carbon neutral.

The EcoMerit Certificate is valid for three years subject to annual review of Bluebird Care (Wexford’s) commitment to meet the criteria of the EcoMerit Programme.
