Creative Sound

Creative Sound was founded in 2021 by Ruth Gallagher, a Wexford based soprano, musician and music educator. Originally from Donegal, Ruth completed a degree and masters in Music at Waterford Institute of Technology in 2011 and 2013, and has been performing and teaching music since. Ruth has worked with Music Generation Wexford and Waterford as a music educator for three years, and currently teaches at County Wexford School of Music, a position she has held since 2016.

From an early age, Ruth has been immersed in music, studying Irish dancing, voice, piano, recorder and tin whistle, and has performed in many choirs all over Ireland. Ruth sings as part of the soprano duo group ‘Lonra’ along with her colleague Patricia Goggins, and has performed concerts in Wexford and Donegal over the last three years.

Inspired by the work of the late Jim Rafferty (Ruth’s secondary school music teacher), which saw the joining of multiple choirs all around Donegal to produce mass productions of Handel’s Messiah and Haydn’s Creation, and, the work of UK choirmaster Gareth Malone who undertook the Military Wives Choir project in 2011, Ruth has had a strong desire to bring people together to share her passion and love of music.

Over the years Ruth has enjoyed performing and working with children and adults of all ages through singing, piano and the glockenspiel. She has most recently been busy facilitating children’s music camps in Wexford, and has three upcoming Halloween camps in Enniscorthy, Johnstown Castle, and Donegal. Ruth has found the voice and the glockenspiel to be very accessible instruments, and as a result, wants to share her passion, skills and experience to provide Music Team Building Workshops and Programmes to promote personal and team development.

No prior musical knowledge or experience is required to take part in these workshops. The aim is to provide a comfortable, non-judgmental and fun environment to energise, challenge and motivate staff, and inspire creativity, imagination, team work and growth. Music is a universal language, one that everyone can understand and enjoy. Through the use of the voice and the glockenspiel, Ruth will create a bespoke programme to suit your company’s needs. Participants will explore a range of musical activities through movement, sound and rhythm, and a bespoke anthem will be created to represent the company’s industry and ethos!
