Cycle Against Suicide 2016, coming to Wexford!

The main Cycle Against Suicide 2016 is coming to Wexford in May. Day 12 of the cycle will leave Waterford On Thursday 5th May and head to New Ross wherr they will have lunch in Good Counsel before taking the N25 to Wexford. About 500 cyclists and a large motorcade will head from the Maldron roundabout up to the Whitford roundabout and continue in through Killeens.  They will then proceed through Pinewood, pass by the fire station, passing Innovate Wexford Park before arriving at St Peter’s College on Belvedere Road at approx. 5pm.

The following morning following a mental well being event the cycle will depart at 10.30, heading down Belvedre Road, Hill Street, 1798 Street, through Redmond Square, over Wexford bridge and taking the coast road to Blackwater where there will be a sos beag before heading to Gorey for the lunch stop at the Community College. The cycle will then head to Arklow for the final overnight stop of the 14 day cycle.

It is so uplifting to arrive into a town to a warm welcome so it would be fantastic if business’s along the route came out to cheer along the peloton. Any display of colour, preferably orange, is also a welcome sign of support. Posters are available by contacting Wexford Chamber.

Anyone can register to cycle and that can be for one leg, one day or as many days as you would like.  Why not sponsor yur employees to take part ? The registration fee includes a Cycle Against Suicide orange jersey, lunch and also refresments at the sos beags.

The event at St Peter’s is free and anyone can attend. Jim Breen, founder of Cycle Against Suicide wil be the main speaker and I know that St Peter’s as the anchor school have other well known people lined up to speak too. Attendance at the morning and lunchtime events is highly recommended.
