Dublin, 16 July, 2014 – Datapac, Ireland’s largest indigenous ICT solutions and services provider, today announces that it has implemented a new cloud based solution to improve mobility and productivity for Synchro Solutions and 36 eMobile stores around Ireland.

Synchro Solutions is an Irish owned business that develops and manages the branded store chain eMobile on behalf of its partner eircom. The business provides ICT infrastructure, point-of-sales systems, telecommunications stock, marketing materials and all of the services that its network of retailers need to run their store effectively. Synchro currently owns 12 of the stores across Ireland, and has franchised and helps manage a further 24 stores.

Due to an increasing volume of data being created and stored, Synchro was reaching capacity on its central server in its head office in Cherrywood, Dublin. The data, much of which was email, was putting the server in danger of failing and potentially causing downtime and loss of service for employees and dealers around the country.

Datapac provided a cloud-based service, Microsoft Office 365, to overcome the capacity and reliability issues. It also enables seamless growth as the service can be easily deployed and scaled, adding new stores and employees to the network in a matter of hours.

Speed and ease of roll-out were important objectives for Synchro, as each of the retail stores need the flexibility to quickly add and remove any new contract staff that are brought on board to support the business during busy periods. With the previous system, adding new temporary employees was a lengthy process and at times the new licences obtained for these staff could sit idle for the rest of the year, increasing business costs.

With 36 stores managed by Synchro around the country, it has a widely dispersed team, many of whom travel between its different locations. Datapac’s solution is delivering improved availability and secure mobility for these employees, ensuring they can access email wherever they are and stay connected to head office.

Microsoft SharePoint Online and Lync Online have also been implemented for the employees at head office. Employees can remotely collaborate on documents in real-time through SharePoint and Lync is currently being used to deliver training webinars to dealers.

Since the implementation of Microsoft Office 365, the IT team has experienced a 50% reduction in calls from employees and stores with email issues. The guaranteed 99.999% uptime with Exchange Online is protecting business continuity, allowing the eMobile dealers to get on with the business of selling telecommunication services.

Damien Lynch, IT Manager of Synchro Solutions said, “Datapac’s solution provides us with a very reliable and flexible communications platform which helps us to seamlessly grow our network of stores throughout Ireland. We also need to be as connected as possible with our colleagues and dealers, and Office 365 gives us the ability to do this in an effective and simple way.”

Martin O’Connor, Business Development Manager, Datapac said, “Datapac implemented an integrated solution which combines the familiar Microsoft Office applications with the productivity and collaboration power of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Lync Online. For a successful and growing business like Synchro it offers them the flexibility, scalability and business continuity they need.”
