Brand New Free Tourism App Launched for Wexford

‘Old Meets New’ – A brand new free tourism information App ‘Visit Wexford’ has been officially launched today (Wednesday, June 4) at the Irish National Heritage Park in Wexford.

The app, which is free to download on the android and iTunes stores, offers visitors a full directory of what’s on, where to go and what to see across the ‘Model County’. The app enables users to easily find contact details and links to businesses of interest featuring five different categories.The categories include ‘Food and Drink’, ‘Travel and Stay’, ‘Shopping’ ‘Services’ and ‘Things to Do’ with an easy to use scrolling menu. An ‘Events and Festivals’ tab will also be added. The App also offers users directions and visual maps to locations of interest and a Sat Nav option. There is a filter and search function on the App enabling users to easily find the information that they need. A ‘vouchers’ tab will enable business to promote special offers they may have to users of the App offering them exclusive App based deals.

Commenting at the launch, Tourism officer for Wexford Carolyne Godkin said, “We are delighted to launch this new tourism app for Wexford.  It showcases the tourism offering from the North to South and East to West of the county. It is a real bonus for visitors, not only when they arrive here to holiday but also to research venues and sites before they even arrive. We have done a lot of research on the various types of Apps available and we know that this particular type of app is very popular and user friendly”

Peter Wilson, Chairperson of Visit Wexford said, ‘This is another great way for Visit Wexford to support the hundreds of small and medium size tourism related businesses in Wexford and it helps everyone to get their messages directly into the hands of visitors to our county. I would encourage all tourism business to take an opportunity for a free listing on the app and also to ensure to send details of any events they may be hosting for the VisitWexford.ie website, again on which a listing is free.”

The App was rolled out by Visit Wexford and is currently being managed by Wexford Chamber.

Commenting on the App launch, Madeleine Quirke CEO, Wexford Chamber said, “Here at the Chamber we have been facilitating the listings on the App.  A basic listing on the App is free to businesses in Wexford.  This app is truly populated with an abundance of detail and it is a really great resource, not only for visitors but also locals in Wexford.”
