Latest CSO Tourism Figures Released

The CSO have today issued Overseas travel Figures for the period covering April to June 2015. This release contains details of visitor numbers (which include same day visits) to Ireland along with Irish trips abroad.

The main points in today’s release are as follows

  • Total overseas trips to Ireland for the first six months of 2015 were up by 12% on the corresponding period in 2014.

 

  • British trips increased by 9% from January to June while North American visitors were up by 15%

 

  • Trips to Ireland from mainland European countries grew by 13% in the six month period; French trips were up by 13% and German visitors up by 11%.

 

  • Visitor numbers from all other long haul areas rose by 12% in the first six months of 2015.

Welcoming today’s strong figures, Fáilte Ireland CEO Shaun Quinn emphasised:

“As we reach the half-way mark and head into the high season for visitors, these figures today signal that tourism is very much on track for a reconrd performance this year.

With favourable currency exchange rates also helping matters, tourism is ideally positioned this year to generate visitors, revenue and jobs like never before.”
