Launch of Wexford Chamber Shop Local Voucher

Wexford Chamber Shop Local Vouchers will be launched this Friday 19th July in the Bull Ring Market at 12 midday. This SHOP LOCAL initiative by Wexford Chamber is an all-out effort to reinforce the importance of shopping locally and helping to sustain jobs in Wexford particularly in these challenging times.

“A town working collaboratively and co-operatively in order to promote and preserve the retail trade here in our town is what Wexford is” said Madeleine Quirke, CEO Wexford Chamber. The support we have received from the People Newspaper and the Local Authorities supports this sentiment and we are very grateful to them.”

“I would ask everybody to buy Wexford Chamber Shop Local Vouchers if you are buying a gift for anybody. If you have visitors coming to Wexford, buy a voucher. If you have birthdays, anniversaries, weddings or other family occasions, buy a voucher. If you want to reward your staff, buy a voucher. If you are running a competition, or a raffle, buy a voucher. Your flexible friend that will be accepted throughout the town in a wide variety of businesses where the Wexford Chamber Shop Local Voucher sticker will be displayed”.

Vouchers, in denominations of €50, €25 and €10 will be available for purchase from Friday 19th July onwards at Wexford Chamber Offices in Hill Street, Wexford. Vouchers will also be available from Wexford Chamber in the Bull Ring Market from 10 – 2 every Friday throughout July and August, during the Festival and in the run up to Christmas.

Vouchers can be exchanged for goods in any of the many participating stores and businesses throughout the town who have signed up to support this SHOP LOCAL campaign. Over 80 businesses are already on board which will ensure the success of this project. Watch out for the Wexford Chamber Shop Local Voucher displayed throughout the town.

To mark the occasion and again to encourage footfall, buskers, street musicians and street performers will be in the Bull Ring on Friday 19th July from 6 – 8 pm and three subsequent Fridays through July and August. The entertainers, who are part of Wexford’s popular open mic club the Red Chair based in the Potato Market, have been invited by Wexford Borough Council to play in the Bull Ring. The street entertainment is an initiative of the Wexford Town Tourism group, working under the banner of Visit Wexford. Great Wexford music and entertainment which will create a wonderful atmosphere in the town.

“Wexford’s shops are second to none” concluded Madeleine. “It is imperative that when we spend our hard earned money we spend it in Wexford. We have to support the livelihoods of family and friends. Shoppers please buy these vouchers, retailers please accept these vouchers and together we can make a huge contribution and a massive difference to our local economy.”
