Talbot Collection Group Acquires Clonmel Park Hotel

WEXFORD-owned Talbot Collection has acquired the Clonmel Park Hotel in Tipperary, in a move that will see the group owning eight hotels in total.

The Tipperary hotel, which will now be known as the Talbot Hotel Clonmel, currently employs 120 staff. All jobs will remain safe, the new owners have confirmed.

The hotel itself is located close to the Comeragh Mountains and will be the third hotel in Munster for the Talbot Collection. The group currently has seven sister hotels, which are located in Cork, Carlow, Wexford and Dublin.

For the past seven years, the Clonmel Park Hotel has been under the management of Tetrarch.

Philip Gavin, managing director for The Talbot Collection, said the group has “long admired” the Clonmel Park Hotel, both for its location and customer service.

“We have been working alongside Tetrarch and CBRE to make the transition as smooth as possible,” he said, while commending the 120 staff at the hotel.

“The team is the biggest asset to the hotel and the Clonmel Park Hotel has an incredibly skilled and dedicated team that we as a group look forward to working alongside.”

Cormac Pettitt, managing director of the Pettitt Group, the family-owned group that owns the Talbot Collection, described the acquisition as a major one for the group.

“We have grown our Talbot Collection brand from our original property, the Talbot Hotel Wexford. We are delighted to extend this now to Tipperary, our fifth county, and to the thriving town of Clonmel.”

Maciek Szczepaniec, general manager at the Clonmel Park Hotel, said this is an “incredibly exciting time” for the hotel in joining the group.

“Ensuring security for our staff and delivering amazing service to our guests is our key priority, and we know we can continue to do this as part of the Talbot Collection,” he said.
