Taste Wexford is running a brand new immersive food tourism programme for hospitality and tourism businesses in Wexford

With the support of Wexford Local Development through the LEADER Programme 2014-2020, Taste Wexford is hosting an exciting, immersive food tourism programme designed to help existing and new food tourism businesses develop year-round visitor experiences.

Over the next six months, Taste Wexford plan to host a range of business development workshops, group facilitation forums, and one-to-one mentor and training sessions in six key areas to help food tourism businesses develop world-class visitor experiences.

The three ways this programme will take place is through:

1. Group business development workshops, either online or in-person, around six key topics in developing and selling food and drink experiences

2. One-to-one mentorship and training sessions with one or more of our industry experts in food tourism. Here mentors will work with businesses on developing their own food tourism experiences.

3. Sharing of information and learning from each other either through group facilitation forums, online via the Taste Wexford Portal or at best practice showcase events.

Mentors and trainers listed for this programme are involved in food tourism in different ways in Ireland and internationally – food tourism leaders, brand experience specialists, food and drink experts, storytellers, digital marketers, and food tourism ambassadors. They all are leaders in their fields and constantly travel and research new ways to build world-class culinary experiences, tours, trails and events.

Benchmarked against leading culinary destinations in Ireland and internationally, the overall outcome of the programme is to develop Wexford as an immersive year-round food destination in providing a diverse range of experiences, events and festivals, attracting visitors from all over the world. It will also help to build a strong food tourism community the showcases our vibrant food heritage at its best.

The programme will commence in October 2021 and run until February/March 2022. A selection process is in place as there are only 25 spaces available on this programme. Expression of interest will close at 5pm on Friday 1 October 2021.
