Visit Wexford Tourism Information and Networking Event to Launch Season

Visit Wexford Tourism is set to host a free tourism information event on Monday, April 20th at 10am at Whites of Wexford.

The event is open to the tourism industry, the business industry, retail sector and any individual with an interest in driving tourism in Wexford.

The event will unveil the brand new Visit Wexford television advertisement which is set to air on RTE and TV3 for 6 weeks in the lead into the Summer holiday period. The thirty-second TV advert will be the first of its kind to air promoting Wexford as a number one choice for a holiday in Ireland; the advert has been voiced by a very famous Wexford Ambassador and TV personality Dermot O’Leary.

The event will also detail the other extensive Marketing campaign activities, which have been devised to promote the county nationally and internationally this year through a significant campaign which has been jointly funded by Wexford County Council and the tourism industry in Wexford. This campaign also includes a number of national radio competitions set to take place along with a multi-site billboard campaign at high traffic areas in Dublin and Cork Cites along with a new Visit Wexford welcome billboard at Rosslare Port.  Wexford will also feature extensively on the TV national events guide and a brand new brochure promoting Wexford will be hosted at over 500 locations across Dublin, the Southeast and at Dublin Airport, Waterford Airport and the Ferry Ports.

Commenting on the upcoming event Chairperson of Visit Wexford Bettie Marie Burger-Smit said, “We hope to see lots of faces at this event, everyone is welcome to join this information briefing. In Wexford we are all actually already involved in the tourism business as we all have an impact on every individual tourists experience while they are here; be it when they are visiting a local attraction or when they asking directions on the street, it is during those experiences where we all contribute to the overall tourism experience and the friendliness of visiting Wexford. On social media whether people are aware of it or not how we showcase Wexford when online is also important to note. We hope that everyone interested can come along and join in this really positive sales campaign for Wexford.”

The free tourism information and networking event programme will feature a number of speakers from the tourism industry, the team from Visit Wexford will also detail how interested parties can capitalize on and engage with the Wexford tourism brand and a workshop on cross-selling will also be hosted.

Commenting on the upcoming event the Wexford tourism officer Siobhan O’Neill said, “We are delighted to host this tourism information and Networking Event. It is an opportunity for everyone to pull together and coordinate our tourism efforts and messages for the season and have a much great impact as a massed group rather than individual efforts. We have a very exciting campaign to promote Wexford across a variety of media outlets for 2015 and beyond and we look forward to welcoming everyone interested in promoting Wexford to this event on April 20th.”

Visit Wexford was officially formed in 2011 and has been promoting Wexford town and county as a tourism destination since the official launch of visitwexford.ie in May 2011. Since then the profile of Wexford has been invested in by Wexford County Council, Wexford stakeholders and Failte Ireland through the promotion of visitwexford.ie which achieves approximately 12,000 visitors per month and is supported by a full social media campaign and offline PR communications. The brand also hosts a free smart phone app; both the app and the website offer all businesses in Wexford an opportunity for listing and host a free event guide listing for all festival and event organisers.
