Wexford Chamber Shop Local Vouchers On Sale

The weekend starts here in Wexford.  Two new initiatives to increase footfall in Wexford Town start on Friday 19th July. 

Footfall is a key performance measure for how well Wexford is doing and indications are that we are outperforming other towns around the country.  Wexford Chamber is focused on helping Wexford retailers increase their business by spearheading a number of new initiatives designed to improve the shopping experience in the town and also to entice people to the Main Street.  Retailers are facing strong competition from online sales and larger shopping destinations, something that is a hotly debated topic.  Maintaining, let alone increasing footfall and spend, is the key objective for many so to be in a position where footfall can be increased is good for everybody.

The introduction of Wexford Chamber Shop Local Voucher s on 19th July will encourage shoppers to spend locally.  This project is funded by Wexford Chamber in association with the Wexford People Newspaper.  Vouchers, in denominations of €50, €25 and €10 will be available to purchase and these can be exchanged for goods in any of the many participating stores throughout the town.    The objective is to spend locally and drive economic recovery in our own town which in turn will both preserve and create local jobs.

Vouchers can be purchased through Wexford Chamber Offices in Hill Street  9 – 5 Monday to Friday from Monday 22nd July  and in the Chamber Cabin in the Bull Ring from 10 – 2 pm every Friday from Friday 23rd onwards.  Further information for businesses interested in signing up to this scheme can be obtained from Thérèse Byrne at Wexford Chamber 053 91 22226.  Over 80 retailers are fully supportive of this initiative which will keep spend in Wexford, protect jobs and help sustain the local economy.

To mark the occasion and again to encourage footfall, buskers, street musicians and street performers will be in the Bull Ring on Friday 19th July from 6 – 8 and three subsequent Fridays through July and August.  The entertainers, who are part of Wexford’s popular open mic club the Red Chair based in the Potato Market, have been invited by Wexford Borough Council to play in the Bull Ring.  The street entertainment is an initiative of the Wexford Town Tourism group, working under the banner of Visit Wexford.   Great Wexford music and entertainment which will create a wonderful atmosphere in the town.

Under the Revenue Commissioners approved ‘Small Benefit Exemption’ scheme, your company can award staff up to €250 as a once off payment.
