ECLECTIC FRINGE 2014 – MAKE THE MOST OF IT

Fringe Poster 2014The 62nd Wexford Fringe Guide will be launched by Mayor George Lawlor on Thursday, 25th September, at 6 pm in Greenacres.  A cornerstone of Wexford’s proud heritage of festivals, Wexford Fringe has become an integral part not only of the cultural, tourism and entertainment scenes in and around Wexford but also a real and tangible contributor to the economic and commercial life of the wonderful town that is Wexford.

This year’s Fringe will not disappoint.  A diverse and eclectic mix of events which include theatre, visual arts, photography, music, literature and children’s entertainment.  Many events are free and there is something for everyone in the family.

Martin Doyle, President of Wexford Chamber, commented “The Fringe in its own right will attract over 50,000 visitors to our town, national and international.  It brings together artists of all disciplines and will run from Friday 17th October through to Sunday 2nd November.  The 2014 guide is packed full with a variety of events and this year we have included a pull out calendar which will detail all that is happening on a particular day.  Very user friendly!!”

Sponsored by Failte Ireland and ESET Ireland, a local company providing advanced proactive antivirus protection, these guides are complimentary and are widely available.

A new addition to the Fringe this year is the production of a Fringe Poster which replicates the front cover of the Guide.  It is anticipated that these will become collector’s items over the coming years and the Chamber is delighted to be able to offer them for sale for €2 from the Chamber, Wexford Art Centre  and other venues across the town.

“They are lovely” says Madeleine Quirke, CEO with Wexford Chamber.  “A really nice poster that tells the story of the wonderful focus on culture and art that is Wexford.”

Wexford Chamber extends the warmest of invitations to everybody to join in and be part of a truly amazing Fringe.  Make the most of it!
