Joyces 70th Anniversary Image

Wexford Chamber will host a Business After Hours networking evening at Joyces of Wexford, Clonard Retail Park on Thursday, 27th March 2014 at 5.30 pm.

Joyces of Wexford, a family run business, was established on 24th March 1944. Year 2014 is special for Joyces since they celebrate their 70 year anniversary.  The key to their success is history; in 1944 Murth Joyce Senior opened a Hardware Warehouse at 7 North Main Street. The business developed over the next 20 years and expanded considerably. With rural electrification, opportunities arose in the electrical appliances and television market. Joyces became a household name in County Wexford.  A move to larger premises at 1 South Main Street took place in the early 1960’s. A China and Gift Store followed and a second appliance store was opened at Custom House Quay. A dedicated Hardware Store opened in the 90’s at Anne Street. With the continued growth of the business, Murth’s sons Derek and Murt made the decision to relocate the electrical departments to a purpose built retail unit in Clonard where they continue to provide the same first class service their father did.

Derek & Murt Joyce invites local businesses, to join them celebrate 70 years in business with an evening of networking & light refreshments.  There will be an opportunity to view Wesley Deverell from Hackett 3D showcase the newest printing technology to the market, the 3D Printers, while Mark Brophy from Samsung will discuss their latest products and Brian Mahon from Exertis will educate you on how to get the best use from Apple products for your business. A tour of their impressive 16,000 sq. ft. premises is a must to view the extensive display of top brand names in appliances, television, audio, computers and household goods

“It is fantastic to see a family run business such as Joyces of Wexford celebrate 70 years in business and flourish in such difficult economic times.  They constantly strive to improve and adapt and I hope their success will inspire many other family run businesses.” commented Madeleine Quirke, CEO, Wexford Chamber.
