The Crown Quarter Jasper’s Restaurant opens its doors

THE latest chapter in the development of Monck Street was written over the weekend as Jasper’s restaurant officially opened its doors. The restaurant is part of brothers Colm and Anthony Neville’s ‘Crown Quarter’ Project and has already generated significant interest with its quirky decor and mouth-watering menu put together by well-known head chef Tony Carty.

Having created a total of 25 new jobs, the restaurant’s staff were kept busy over opening weekend.

“It went really well,” said Colm Neville. “It’s very exciting. We’ve been really lucky with being able to bring Tony (Carty) on board and with all of our front of house servers and staff. It’s quite hard to get staff at the minute, but we’ve been very lucky and we’re off to a great start.”

Jasper’s was busy for the first three nights and has been welcomed by the local business community.

“We’ve had wonderful goodwill from the likes of 10 West and La Côte and I think bringing that bit of variety can be a positive thing for everybody.

“I’m very excited to see what Monck Street can offer to tourists and visitors to the town, particularly in terms of extending the tourist offering all year round, not just July and August. All of the operators on the street have really engaged with it and it’s exciting to see what can come of it.”

In terms of the next steps for The Crown Quarter, the Neville brothers are hopeful of opening a new daytime café/night time burger bar ‘Brew Burger’ along with a quiet, cosy, traditional pub The Loch & Quay in time for the August bank holiday weekend.
